Somewhere in Terengganu ..., if you driving from Pahang, using coastal road, you'll definitely will see this lovely gorgeous beach.

This is one of my favorite spot in Terengganu for its natural beauty.

my boys can't stop their selves from jump into the water, while I'm snoring inside the car.

I can't tell you the name of the place as I also can't remember, even I always pass by.

Mencandat Sotong at Terengganu

Mencandat sotong or squid jiggling is one of the famous activities done during the middle of the year. At this time, the ocean are free from the monsoon, make it suitable for the activity. If you are planning for Terengganu holiday, make sure you don't left the squid Hooks behind.

Marang is one of the best spot to start mencandat sotong trip. From Marang, they riding the boat heading to Kapas Island (Pulau Kapas) surroundings, where the squid jiggling starts. You can see the video a group of people go for the candat sotong trip.




Perhentians (perhentian islands) also famous for squid jiggling while if you are at Kuala Terangganu, perhaps you can go to the nearest island (Pulau Redang) for the candat sotong.

Terengganu travel trip will be meaningful if can go for mencandat sotong. Even Terengganu tourism also organizing pertanding mencandat sotong (contest) to invite more tourists to enjoy the event.

Quick update : Muar - KL - Puchong - PD

I'm going to Kuala Lumpur by tomorrow to get some items from wholesaler for my business. Then got to rush to IOI Mall, Puchong to pick up Adam Harith. Maybe can watch UP movie over there before left for Port Dickson. Adam Harith will be staying with me for couple days as school holidays has started.

We probably staying at Selesa Beach Resort Hotel Resort for 2 days before coming back to Muar. I'm gonna relaxing from work and entertain my little boy for couple days before send him to Kuala Terengganu for him to spent the rest of holidays with his gardparents.

Kuala Terengganu ; what hot in town?

If you are hunger for good place for visit in the Kuala Terengganu City, here I give you personal advice based on my experience an outsider who live there for couple years.

Place of interest in Kuala Terengganu Town:

1. Pasar Payang - heaven for shoppers who loves local food, local handcrafted materials and local clothing aparel (batik).

2. Viewing tower on top of the hill (can remember the 'bukit' name) just between Istana Maziah and the post office (500 metres from pasar payang). Climb up the hill and you'll see the whole Kuala Terengganu.

3. boat ride - enjoy the 'water bus' ride to get to Seberang Takir, - cheaper by water- as low as RM0.50 (50 sen). What interesting across ? Locals made batik - small industry behide the house! Believe me it is awesome. How they are full of talent to produce art on fabric.

4. Beca - trishaw ; easily found all around the town. With nice decoration - it is specially provide for tourist to experience beca ride.

5. Pantai batu burok - a beach with beautiful scenery.

The rest I'm not mentioning here as this is totally inside the town. There still have more attraction but they are all on the town outskirt. back with more guide and stories soon.

Floating Restaurant at Masjid Terapung Kuala ibai

When I was at Terengganu couple years ago, this floating restaurant is still under construction. Last week, after Subuh prayer, i realized it's already open. So we had the breakfast with fascinating view of the lagoon.

I can't tell exactly how good is the food as we just had roti telur (egg prata bread) and nasi lemak (Malaysian coconut rice). For me, it is more about the venue. Hot spot for cosy eating place with special nature surrounding.

Where to buy Keropok in Terengganu?

If you are coming to visit Terengganu, make sure you'll get the 'keropok ikan' fish crackers, famously known across the nation made by the locals.

Where to buy the best keropok ikan in Terengganu?

If you are at Kuala Terengganu, Pasar Payang is the easiest for you to get those items as well as the batik.

Losong, located nearby the State Muzium Muzium Negeri Terengganu gathered all the most famous keropok in Malaysia. Losong also has its trademark for the small industri product with the brand "LOSONG". You can see all blue signboard over there.

Another famous keropok brand in Kuala Terengganu is known as '007' - which clearly seen on their signboard, if you are passing the main road at Kuala Ibai. I don't known how they get the idea to put 'double O seven' on it.. :)

Another famous keropok product is comes from Setiu. If you can't make it to Setiu, you stil can manage to get them at Marang district. All along the road are fulls of keropok stalls, which you can get the raw keropok keping and keropok gonde @ gete @ lekor.


Just in front of Pantai Kelulut, Marang, there got one big keropok shop - Keropok Lekor 008 Kelulut (this one is double O eight). There were always full of customers stop here for variation of keropok, chili sauce and other driedseafood products.

Anyway, please bare in mind that keropok keping / keropok lekor available in other stall should be on the best quality. As long as they are originally from Terengganu, the taste is there, the standard is almost the same.

Pantai batu Burok, Kuala Terengganu

We went to Kuala Terengganu last Tuesday. Just for normal routine. Before we left, we had relaxing moment at pantai Batu Burok (beach).

As usual, there were bunches of people had their chill time over there. Viewing the kids playing kites and peoples spent some precious moment there. Honestly, the beach is not suitable for swimming but it is really good for relaxing. Besides the beach, you also can enjoy the foods at the beach stalls : all kind of fish crackers and fried stuffs.


During school holidays, there will be kite selling activities available here. With varieties of kites pattern, sizes and colors are sold here. My boy bought one ... kids are still kids.. :) We are coming here again next week. Hopefully, I will get a hotel resort or a chalet for one night, for a rest before coming back to Muar. Budget hotel or cheapest hotel might be good enough if I'm short of money.

Kuala Terengganu one day trip

I went to Kuala Terengganu on last Wednesday to pick up Adam Harith. Suddenly he made a phone call saying that he missed me. With no second thought, I rushed there after finished pasar malam. Left Muar about 11.30pm and reach Kuala Terengganu by 5.00am.

I stopped at Sultanah Hajah Zanariah Mosque, Kuala Ibai, famously known as masjid terapung (the floating mosque). The mosque was design by Malaysian architect ; Raja Bahrin. I snapped some photo using my camera phone. After breakfast. we left Kuala Terengganu by 8.30 am.

The mosque sits on beautiful lagoon, make it looks floating when it high tide. Next to the lagoon is the beach facing South China Sea. This place is perfect for relaxing but not suitable for swimming. If you want to swim, you have to go on the other side, across the lagoon.


How to get to the other side?
Get on the main road, heading to Kuantan, untill you reach the traffic light junction at Chendering). Turn left, about 100 metres, you'll see a signboard heading to Navy Base. Follow the alley and you'll find the beach.

If you are coming to Kuala Terengganu, there are some places that you must visit. Among them are :

1. Masjid Kristal (Crystal Mosque).
2. Pulau Duyong : the venue for Monsoon Cup in December.
3. Pasar Payang (Payang Market) : famously known for their batik clothing, and fish crakers (keropok ikan).
4. Masjid terapung (floating mosque).
5. Pantai Batu Burok (well known for the nice view beach and foods)
6. State Muzium at Cabang Tiga, Losong.
7. Fish Crackers sellers at Losong.

Where to stay in Kuala terengganu?

There are several options of from 5 star hotel, to budget hotel. While resort and chalet can be easily found. But be aware that most of the hotels, chalet and resort are fully booked on weekend, especially school holidays. This is because of large number of local and international tourist coming to Terengganu all the time.

Among nice hotels in Kuala Terengganu town such as Primula Beach Resort, Hotel Seri Malaysia, Hotel Grand Continental, Permai Inn Kuala Terengganu (there got more hotels check here) while Batu Buruk Chalet can be considered if you are planning for chalet on the beach (check more chalet).
