For coconut shake lovers, most of them has tried Original Coconut Shake Klebang. They already have the popularity for ages. Anyway, Coconut Shake Batu Berendam, Alai and Padang Temu start gaining popularity as well.

 Apart from Melaka, the neighbor, Muar, still not famous with coconut shake. Maybe the existence of coconut shake  outlet are not obvious to public here. Or maybe they are not well know yet?

Mee Bandung at Parit Bunga, Muar

this is the famous Mee bandung

This entry specially done as I promised earlier; in Mee bandung Muar entry. This is not a paid review or bias because they are my neighbor, but totally becue they served one of the best Mee Bandung Muar in town.

Actually, it is not a restaurant, we just call it Warung Razak (some call it Warung Razak Puchong), and they are family business owned. I will update the proper name. They live in our neighborhood, at Kampung Parit Bunga, Muar. The best part is, my parent's house is less than 30 metres away from the warung.

Since I was a kid (in late 80s), I've been seeing their customers keep coming without fail to enjoy the killer menu, Mee Bandung Muar. My favorite here is something else, fried noodle (his own style is quite similar to mee goreng mamak).

Anyway, based on true fan of mee bandung Muar, they will come here again to taste the famous dish or even get 'tapaw' for next meal when they arrived in KL (people from Muar area will pass this warung when they heading to Tangkak tol exit).

Rojak Petis and ABC, Tanjung Emas, Muar

My favorite Rojak petis

For MUARian, Tg. Emas (with biggest durian on earth), is a common place for us. Yes, I was born here and spent my childhood at Kg. Parit Bunga, Muar. I bet every original Muarian lived outside will spend sometime here, everytime they have chance 'balik kampung'.

mouthwatering ABC

When I was a kid, still remember that I will only have ABC and rojak petis at the old medan selera if I have a chance to come here. The old Tanjung Emas Medan selera  were situated at Muar river bank. Now it has been replaced with the new building, on the opposite side, across the road.... what a waste for nice view of the river.

Actually there is nothing much of interest for outsiders if they come here. The attraction at Tanjung Emas is a boat ride from here to Sabak Awor, the rojak petis, playground, jogging track, head of vintage train and nice view of the estuary of the Muar river.

Once in a while, you'll see fishing boat departed from jetty under the Muar bridge, heading to the Straits of Melaka.

For outsiders, don't feel sorry and blame us if you are taken here. We don't have skyscrapers in Muar town, or even 5 star shopping paradise. This is what we have and we proud of it as Muarian. 

So, enjoy the nature. ;)

Mee bandung Muar

Mee bandung Muar is one of the most famous dishes in Muar. It becomes the tourists favorite food whenever they visit Muar. Almost every restaurant in Muar town will have mee bandung in their menu.

There are lots of hot spot for having mee bandung Muar. Among them are located in MARA traders complex (previously known as warung @ gerai besi), Tanjung Emas, medan makan Bentayan, Muar-BP bus stand (stesyen bas Muar - Batu Pahat),  Taman Tun Syed Nasir, Tg. Agas, Parit Bunga and few restaurants whithin the Muar town.

3 layer tea

Have you try this cold marvelous drink? It called 3 layer tea. Normally you can find it at most mamak restaurant all around Malaysia. Or if you see the poster of 3 layer tea stick on the wall of any restaurant, maybe the serve the special drink.

Beware for diabetics, this are not suitable for you. The calories are above standard level. It is too sweet because they mix up tea juice, condensed milk and brown sugar. What you reckoned?

I had this special tea at Restoran Seri Muar, at Jalan Sulaiman. I love the place because the open air compound are separated from heavy traffic of the main road. Besides, there are not many restaurant open till late midnight at Muar.

I used to have gathering with my colleagues here, especially when they come back from the city. Normally I will have mee goreng mamak (Indian style fried noodle) as my regular food ;)

Kampung Parit Bunga, Muar : Part 1

Kampung   = village
Parit          = drain / stream
Bunga       = flower

Kampung Parit Bunga, located in Muar, Johor. Now it is under Majlis Daerah Tangkak (Ledang Town Council) authority. I live here, grown up here, schooling here during my childhood days. I still remember swimming in the stream, playing under the rain, cycling around far away from my house. Those days remains in my memories.

Kg. Parit Bunga neighborhood are Tg. Gading, Tg, Agas, Rawang, Pantai Layang and Sungai Mati. Parit Bunga small town (pekan) previously known as "Batu dua", is main focus for locals to get their daily groceries. Sadly, Batu Dua now gone due to more important thing which is the Muar second Bridge. The bridge has become an alternative for transport from Northern part to cross the river. It has solved congestion problem on the main bridge, especially during festive season.

An evening at ‘pasar malam’

The flee market or night market locally known as pasar malam. I had these fruits and veggie photos captured just at the night market, not far from my place.

The most valuable food - ‘petai’ is most wanted item. The smell is unacceptable, many people doesn’t like it. But don’t know why people still like it and get addicted to it. One of my friends is selling petai for living and he made very good income just selling the ‘powerful food’.

The rest of photos captured from my camera phone lens are normal local veggie. You can see long beans, lemon grass, turmeric, bitter melon, belimbing buluh (kind of star fruit), and many more. Enjoy the pictures.

An evening at Tanjung Emas Muar

This is Alfiqh, 5. He is my niece. His mom working overtime on that day, so I brought him out for recreational. Tanjung Ketapang (located at Tg. Emas, Muar) is the common place for Muarian for recreatinal.

I didn't bring my running gear (because I thought I want to surf the internet, but my wife forgot to bring the wireless modem). So we all have a walk, along the muddy beach at that place. I like the view, really calm. It was low tide during that evening.

Next to the running course, there is located the golf club. Lots of golfers can be seen playing their favorite game. In matter fact, the golf club is the one and only available in Muar. No wonder why the place looks so crowded ( besides of the size can be categorized as small golf course).

We spent for nearly an hour at the beach. There were also a board walk for visitors to see the monkeys and feed them. They look tame but I'm not brave enough to get any closer.. hehehe..

I was riding a bike, crossing Muar bridge. Then I saw nice scenery of Muar Traders hotel, up to Tanjung Emas. The river's color is so greenish. I stop in the middle of the bridge, grab my Sony Ericsson cybershot, snap a landscape photo.

ABC - perfect beverage on hot sunny day

We went to a food stall at jalan Bakariah, Muar for refreshment yesterday. My wife told me she felt so thirsty as the day was so hot and burning. So I stopped my car at one of the warung and asking for a glass of regular ABC, while my wife get a nice special ABC with mixture of corn, 'cendul' and few other 'special ingredients'.

No regrets at all. Worth for thirsty throat.. Missed it again today. Muar, Johor - 88 degrees F, 75% humidity.

Pontian : Medan Ikan Bakar Persatuan Nelayan Kawasan Pontian

I spent the whole week at Pontian last week for MARA Mega Sales Carnival with my apparel business. The carnival held at Dewan Jubli Intan Pontian, just along the beach. The location is really nice and calm as I really enjoy the sea view.


Unfortunately, the weather is not really good. It always raining almost everyday. So the crowds are not as many as we are expected. Anyway, I enjoy the week and met new friends.















Opening Ceremony of the mega sales carnival  - the lion dance just started!

Pontian town is not really developing as other city in Johore. Probably this is because Pontian situated not too far from Johor Bahru. The youngsters are migrating to the big city nearby (Johore Bahru). 

There are new development area known as 'Tambak', comprises new shop houses, restaurants, bank and supermarket. BUT, the rest of the area looks really lame.

Pontian location sits along the beach, they are well known for seafood restaurant. Kukup is one of the best places for the seafood. Even Kukup is famous for the seafood and tourism activities, Pontian also have their own seafood restaurant, which is not bad for the price, food and surrounding.

I went to Medan Ikan Bakar P.N.K. (Persatuan Nelayan Kawasan) Pontian, with my colleagues. Because it was late, we don't really have real grilled fish and seafood meals. It is too heavy for me, but some of us having them. 

This is my first visit over here. I quite like the area placed next to the stream. The stream linked to the river and some sea creatures such as crabs and snails can be seen.

The seafood restaurant owned by the Persatuan Nelayan (fishermen's union). Definitely all seafood sources can be easily supplied to the restaurant, means you'll get fresh fish and and varieties of seashells. 

Forgot to snap the picture of foods. Just realized about it when we already finished them all... damn, too hungry.

Johor Bahru : a gateway to Singapore

Johor Bahru, also known as J.B. is the capital city of Johor State. Located at the southern part of Peninsular of Malaysia, JB is a gateway to Singapore (refer to the Johor map below). They are linked by a bridge which means you can cross the border by car. Johore Bahru is fast growing city with lots of development done by the state government and also by private sector.

Quick update : Muar - KL - Puchong - PD

I'm going to Kuala Lumpur by tomorrow to get some items from wholesaler for my business. Then got to rush to IOI Mall, Puchong to pick up Adam Harith. Maybe can watch UP movie over there before left for Port Dickson. Adam Harith will be staying with me for couple days as school holidays has started.

We probably staying at Selesa Beach Resort Hotel Resort for 2 days before coming back to Muar. I'm gonna relaxing from work and entertain my little boy for couple days before send him to Kuala Terengganu for him to spent the rest of holidays with his gardparents.

Medan Ikan bakar Parit Karang, Tg. Gading, Muar

I had dinner last night at Medan Ikan Bakar Parit Karang (grilled fish food court), Tg. Gading, Muar. What so special about this is place? It was developed on the swamp area, which all the mangrove swamp still conserved, means you can enjoy the natural environment. The place also maintain the jetty for the fishermen, with all boats parked on the river next to the place (can't show the pics coz there were no lights).

It is not only a foodcourt, the place developed as a recreational park with play zone provided for kids and you also can walk around till you reach the beach, using the boardwalk. Other facilities here are surau (praying room for muslim) and toilet.

For grilled fish lover, stall no. 6 provides 'original' grilled fish, which using real charcoal - not a frying pan! The grilled fish served with Johor style dipper - soy sauce mixed with chilli, lime and onion. The taste - so delicious , yum, yum!



I'd like to come here some other time during the day for more shots.

Golf Club : Muar

Are you a golfer? You are addicted to golf? Have you ever wonder where to go for golfing when you are visiting Muar? I'm not sure is there any golf driving range in Muar but there got one Golf Club in Muar as far as I'm corcern - it is located at Tanjung Emas, Muar.

I just discovered one driving range in Muar located somewhere nearby Parit Bakar (off Jalan Abdul Rahman). I will do the update for exact location and the contact info.

Don't forget to bring all your golf equipment as there is not much shop selling the stuffs for playing golf. I don't see any new golf clubs in muar since my childhood until 2009. Anyway, you still can enjoy play golf over there but don't espect to get one as good as St. Andrew golf or PGA standard.. :)
