Hotel Hatten Melaka

Every time I passing by Dataran Pahlawan, I will see this gigantic building at the end of the corner. The location, just opposite of Equatorial Hotel. Hotel Hatten Melaka , sits in the middle of UNESCO Historical and Heritage sites, just nice for travelers to stay while enjoying Malacca heritage.


If not mistaken, the Hatten Melaka hotel construction completed last year. In 2012, they strive as one of the most searched Melaka hotel. Congratulations to Hatten Melaka. 


So, if you are looking for superb Malacca hotel, perhaps you should try Hotel Hatten Melaka.

Menara Taming Sari and Maritime Museum scenery

In the previous entry, there was Maritime Museum night view but here, I show the view of  Maritime Museum and Menara Taming Sari (Taming Sari Tower) from distance. It was taken from on top of St. Paul Hill (Bukit St. Paul), where is located the St. Paul Church.

In the next entry, I will update with the photos of St. Paul Church and the hill.

Loudspeaker beca at the clock tower

This is the clock tower at Melaka historic city, parts of  the famous red building. There are tourist information center, souvenir shops, and attractive colorful beca (trishaws) surrounding the area.

Personally, I think there are two special facts about the beca:

1. nicely decorated with flowers and colorful elements
2. their loudspeaker is better than mine (inside my car)!

Make sure you try the beca ride. Tell the owner wherever you want to go and they won't make you regret. Enjoy!

Old Fire Engine Truck in Melaka

This fire engine truck started its service in 1939 under the control of the Chief Police Officer of Malacca.
In 1942, the British brought along this fire engine to Singapore but was transferred back to Malacca by the Japanese.
After the 2nd. World War, this truck was placed under the control of Malacca Municipal Council. This truck took part in many operations such as at Lereh, Tanjung Kling, Lee Rubber Godown in Bacang and at Banda Kaba Street. The truck ended its service in 1974.

Rumah Tradisional Penghulu Abdul Ghani (Penghulu Mad Natar), Merlimau, Melaka

Rumah Penghulu Abdul Ghani was built in 1894 and located about 5km from the town of Merlimau, Melaka. Being the house of the village head, it is remarkably different from other houses in the area.

The house is architecturally resplendent and signature to Melaka's 19th century artistic style. Its intricate wood carving forms the unique facade as well as the interior section of the house reflects a beautiful integration of Malay, Chinese and western culture in its design, embellishments and decorations.

Rumah Penghulu Mad Natar is less than 3 km from where I live. The architecture and colorful appearance makes people really admire the house. Sometimes I can see tourists stopping by to capture some photos.

Famosa melaka

A Famosa Melaka (Malay language: Kota A Famosa) is part of the fortress left over by the Portuguese when they colonized Malacca. It is among the oldest surviving European architectural remains in Asia. The gate's arch renovated by Dutch in 1670, explains why there are a logo of  'ANNO 1670'. Above the arch is a bas-relief logo of the Dutch East India Company.

The fortress changed hands again in the early 19th century when the Dutch handed it over to the British to prevent it from falling into the hands of Napoleon's expansionist France. The English were wary of maintaining the fortification and ordered its destruction in 1806. The fort was almost totally demolished but for the timely intervention of Sir Stamford Raffles, the founder of Singapore, who happened to visit Melaka in 1810. Visit Melaka means visit Malaysia

School holiday comes to the end. It's not late for you and family to spend the rest of it in Melaka. Melaka famously known for its historical monument and heritage. Tourist from all over the world visit Melaka all along the year. Melaka Town (known as Melaka Historical City now) brings you lots of historic monuments especially left by the Portugese, Dutch and British.

Jonker Walk is one of main attraction iin the midle of the town with its herritage and historical buildings. Besides, you can have a 'beca ride' (tricycle) - with amazing modifications and decorations. One of the precious moment you should experience here.

Others than the history, another attraction is the herritage. Baba and Nyonya known as 'Straits-born Chinese' or 'Peranakans' is unic about it here. One of the source for them is The Baba and Nyonya Heritage Museum, located at Jalan Tun Tan Cheng Lock, or known as the Millionaire's Row. You can view the heirloom unique to this heritage at the museum (a private museum) which run by the Babas and Nyonyas of Melaka.

Char Kue Teow Berkuah (Penang) di Melaka

If you are the fan of Char Kue Teow Berkuah : Penang Style in Melaka, don't worry because you can find it here at Gerai Bukit Punggor, Jalan Telok Mas Melaka. For exact location, it is facing Sekolah Menengah Syarifah Rodziah.

Misyaz Rizqalah Enterprise serve the char kue teow Penang with Melaka style as the main menu. What does it mean by 'Melaka' style? It is because of the flavour and recipe has been modified with Melaka taste which more hot and spicy, compare to the original Penang style.

From my view, there are lots of customer coming here to enjoy the char kue teow, even the restaurant is not big. If you are addicted to char kuey teow Penang, but living in Melaka, here is the solution for you.

As I am not a char kuew teow fan, not much I can't tell but because my wife really enjoy it, I have to drive from Muar just to have her favourite food. :)

Melaka Zoo

I've been visited Zoo Melaka about 5 times last year. Since there is not much attraction in Muar, I prefer to bring my boy here, during school holidays.

The zoo is located strategically at Ayer Keroh–the Gateway to Melaka. It can be easily accessible to both incoming visitors off the highway and visitors from downtown Melaka.

Entry to Zoo Melaka is not expensive. As low as RM 2.00 for students with school uniform. Go here to check for the price ticket.

Zoo Melaka was originally established by the Melaka State Government in 1963 atop 54 acres (21.2 ha) in Ayer Keroh as a fledgling tourist destination.

In 1979, management of Zoo Melaka was transferred to the Department of Wildlife and National Parks (PERHILITAN) and officially opened to the public by then Prime Minister, Dato Seri Dr. Mahathir Mohamad on 13th August 1987. Since then, the Zoo has become a member of the South-East Asian Zoological Park Association (SEAZA) and an active member of the Malaysian Association of Zoological Parks and Aquaria (MAZPA).

Southsea, Hampshire

Southsea located in Portsmouth in the county of Hampshire in England, United Kingdom. It is part of Portsmouth, and the centre of Southsea is only a mile from Portsmouth city centre.

Southsea is only a small town but it is famous for the beach stretched over from Clarence Pier to Southsea Castle. Lots of grassland can be seen her with nice greenery views. Lots activities organized here during summer, such as carnival and car boot sales.

The beach at the seafront mostly are flint gravel while the sand only exposed at low tide. It is very nice to have walk on the pathway along the beach, especially when sunset.

A hovercraft service available to Isle of Whight, provides by hovertravel. While ferry service availble from the Hard (Portsmouth Harbour) to Gosport. Make the journey shorter and cheaper, compared if we driving a car. Southsea can be reached using public transport either by bus of train.

There are lots of historic monument here from back to 19th century where the harbour was under military protection from any attack to Portsmouth and the dorkyard. The historical attraction here are :

Melaka hotels: Pantai Puteri Sandy Beach

Pantai Puteri , Tanjong Keling, Melaka

One of the best beach location in Melaka (Malacca) town is located at Pantai Puteri. about 1.3 km away from Melaka Historic City. The beach is still ok if you plan to swim and having picnic.

If you are planning to stay in the hotel, there got several hotel along the beach. During my holidays in January this year, my wife and I was staying at Bidara Puteri Beach Resort. The 3 star hotel resort sits on very strategic location either for the beach or for food at the Thai's restaurant nearby (the restaurant sits on the sandy beach - pretty much cool huh!).

The specialty about the beach is because of the landscape on the beach, giving nice shaded area. Those trees also stop strong wind from the open sea Straits of Malacca. Pantai Putri is very nice compared to pantai Klebang.

Why?

Pantai Klebang is not a place for swimming. It is just a place for loitering and viewing the sea. Not much you can do over there for public unless you are staying at any hotel along that area.

Overall, Pantai Puteri is good enough for people to escape busy city life. It is a nice spot for a picnic and relaxing, because of the location nearby melaka Town.

Melaka aka Malacca the historic city of Malaysia still has the historical monument left by the Portuguese, when they colonized in 16th century. The most historic monument is A Famosa. Beside the historical monument, the government of Melaka has made a big conservation work to Melaka River and become new attraction. We can have river walk on the pathway alongside the riverbank with nice view of Melaka old buildings plus original traditional Malay house at Kampong Mortem.
