Umbai Baru Floating Grilled Fish Village (Restoran Ikan Bakar Terapung) , Umbai, Melaka. It is located at the Umbai Beach, for exact location.
The place was opened on 1st July 2004. Operation hour from 12pm - 12am. A main attraction for both tourists and locals. Well known for Malaysian for their fresh seafood and very competitive price
How to get there?
If you come from Melaka, the entrance to the grill fish village is on the right, enter the junction, and the foodcourt is about 1 km away. There is a signboard showing the direction, can be seen from the main road. The village is located approximately 16 km from the City of Melaka. Spread over 6 acres, and contructed at a cost of RM 9.21 million.
There are 24 food and beverages stalls, 6 units of handicrafts and others. Plus an open-air stage, a hall (Seri Siakap hall), multipurpose seminar room, rest area, fishing jetty, a boardwalk and a viewing tower.
The viewing tower is about 12 metre height (this is just my rough estimate on the night time). If you want to enjoy the scenery of open Straits of Melaka , come here on the daytime so you can use the tower effectively. But if you come on the night time, the calm beach is perfect for those who enjoy quite and peaceful moment for a dinner.
Me, my mom and wife had fried prawn and squid, Siakap fish sweet sour, fried chilli crab, kangkung goreng belacan, served with rice + juice drinks.I'm totally overloaded that night with only cost of RM82.00, that's very good bargain!
My personal rating, for the food - 4.5 out of 5. The place itself, 4 out of 5.. (this is my first time being here, probably I have to explore more next time...)..
